Airana Ngarewa

Born and raised in Pātea, Airana Ngarewa (Ngati Ruanui, Ngarauru, Ngaruahine) writes about Māori affairs for The Spinoff. His writing has also been published by RNZ, the NZ Herald, Newsroom and Landfall. He won the short story and poetry competitions at the Ronald Hugh Morrieson Literary Awards in 2022. The Bone Tree is his debut novel.

Daisy Speaks

Daisy Speaks is a youth advocate and proud descendant of Sāmoan orators. A specialist-generalist, she straddles the cultural, government, community and educational worlds. Poetry helps her to make sense of and navigate the tensions between them. Daisy is a trustee of WORD Christchurch.

Ruby Solly

Ruby Solly (Kāi Tahu, Waitaha, Kāti Māmoe) is a writer, musician and taonga pūoro practitioner living in Pōneke. Her first book of poetry, Tōku Pāpā, was published in 2021 and longlisted for the Ockham New Zealand Book Awards. Her second book, The Artist, is published in 2023. She has had poetry published in Aotearoa, Australia, America and Antarctica. In 2020 she released her debut album, Pōneke, and in 2021, Bird Like Men, as part of the group Tararua. She is currently completing a PhD in public health, focusing on the use of taonga pūoro in hauora Māori.

The Judah Band

The Judah Band are monsters of groove, hailing from Sāmoa, the Solomon Islands and Japan, with Iona Ulaula on drums, Motoi Shibuswa on guitar, brothers Steve and Vincent Lasei on keys and Seta Timo (MD) on bass.
