MASTERCLASS: PIP ADAM: A HORSE WALKS INTO A BAR

A horse walks into a bar.
Bartenders says, Why the long face?

In this masterclass you’ll look at the elements and structures of jokes to see how they might be deployed in fiction and other imaginative writing. This isn’t a masterclass on how to write funny. Instead, you’ll be looking ‘under the hood’ of jokes to see how they elicit a spontaneous and physical response in order to see if we might use these tools to make our fiction more evocative and affecting. The workshop will consist of close-reading as a group and reflective exercises.
